Wearing makeup at the gym may not be as harmless as it seems, according to a recent study. The research aimed to explore the effects of cosmetic foundation cream on skin conditions during exercise, revealing some surprising findings. The study involved forty-three healthy college students, with foundation cream applied to half of their face in two different areas. Skin was analyzed before and after a 20-minute treadmill workout using a specialized device.
Results showed that skin moisture levels increased significantly in both the non-makeup and makeup zones after exercise. However, the makeup zones had higher oil production levels compared to the non-makeup zones. Additionally, pore size increased in the non-makeup zones but remained the same in the makeup zones. Oil levels decreased in the makeup zones but increased in the non-makeup zones.
The findings suggest that wearing foundation cream during aerobic exercise can lead to increased oil production and clogged pores. It can also contribute to skin dryness by reducing oil levels. Individuals with dry skin conditions may want to reconsider wearing makeup during physical activity. This study offers valuable insights and highlights the potential consequences of using makeup while working out, urging individuals to make informed decisions about their beauty routine during exercise.
