Plant-based diets are becoming all the rage among athletes, and there’s some juicy evidence to back it up. A recent review looked into whether these diets help or hurt athletic performance. Conducted with top-notch research tools and databases, the review sifted through a whopping 2,249 articles. After a thorough screening, 8 articles were chosen for the final review. Interestingly, the review found that plant-based diets do not harm athletic performance at all! In fact, they might even boost it, improving maximal oxygen consumption, vertical jumps, and relative strength. There’s no proof that these diets hurt body composition either. While we still don’t know the long-term effects for professional athletes, for now, it seems like going green is a win-win for young adults aged 18 to 45. So, plant-powered athletes, keep munching those veggies!
