Men Reluctant to Talk About Health Issues.

A recent survey revealed that over half of American men feel the need to “tough it out” when they don’t feel well. The survey, conducted by Talker Research on behalf of Rugiet Health, polled 2,000 U.S. men and discovered that many don’t discuss their health due to privacy concerns (61%), embarrassment (39%), or fear of seeming less “manly” (17%).

The survey highlighted that men are least comfortable discussing erectile dysfunction (38%), obesity (10%), and depression (10%). Interestingly, four in ten men are afraid to talk about potential health issues they aren’t currently experiencing.

Men with erectile dysfunction (ED), in particular, reported decreased sexual interest (62%), lowered self-confidence (61%), and increased rates of depression (40%). Sixty-eight percent believe ED is often stigmatized, affecting overall well-being. Mike Apostal, CEO of Rugiet Health, emphasized that “ED isn’t just about sex. It can be a red flag for serious health issues like heart disease or diabetes.”

Men noted that ED impacts their self-confidence (58%), personal and romantic relationships (53%), and mental health (49%). However, addressing ED could improve self-confidence (75%), emotional health (64%), and mental health (54%). Apostal urged, “Men’s health shouldn’t be a silent struggle.”

It is crucial to encourage men to seek help for their health, making a significant stride toward overall well-being.
