Squats are a basic move that can really boost your workout routine, but it’s super important to do them right. Dr. Kampert, a sports medicine doctor, says squats not only make your thighs, hips, and butt stronger but also help with stability, balance, and posture.

When you do squats properly, they work a bunch of muscles, like your core, hamstrings, and calves. Did you know this exercise burns around 35 calories a minute and helps release hormones for muscle growth?

To do a squat right, stand with your feet shoulder-width apart and keep your chest up. Bend at the hips and push your butt back like you’re sitting in a chair. Keep your knees wide and don’t let them fall inward. Lower yourself until your thighs are parallel to the ground while keeping a neutral spine. Push through your heels to stand back up.

If regular squats are tough, you might try easier versions like partial squats or box squats for extra support. Sticking with it is key; with practice, you’ll get stronger and more flexible. Always listen to your body to avoid injury, and think about talking to a pro for personalized tips.
